Christopher Renshaw's triple Tony Award winning production waltzes back in Sydney 23 years after its Australian premiere. First lady of Australian musical theatre, Lisa McCune, plays English governess Anna Leonowens opposite internationally acclaimed baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes as the King.

The cast also features Australian 70s pop legend Marty Rhone and Chinese opera star Shu-Cheen Yu, as The Kralahome and Lady Thiang.

The beautiful score includes the songs 'I Whistle a Happy Tune', 'Getting to Know You', 'Shall We Dance?' and 'Hello, Young Lovers'. This is a dazzling musical celebration, a sumptuous production with stunning scenery and magnificent costumes, definitely an event not to be missed.

The King and I is on from 7 September until 1 November in the Joan Sutherland Theatre, Sydney Opera House.
